Afra and Tobia Scarpa 925 Lounge Chair
First-issue Model 925 Lounge Chair, in walnut and cognac leather, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina. Based on an earlier sketch by Carlo Scarpa, this design was finally realized in the 1960s as part of an innovative series of furnishings by the Italian duo. The low lounge chair features a minimal and well-balanced silhouette, with square legs that contrast intriguingly with the rounded seat. The molded plywood seat is elevated with sumptuous leather, meticulously stitched to fit the frame closely. This example is crafted in a particularly rich combination of warm cognac leather and dark lacquered wood. The chair is in wonderful condition, with an attractive patina to the leather. An early paper label is present on the underside. Italy, 1960s.
